Just plain nuts.
I’m not saing this will happen, but… There are currently about 5 teams for whom a 6 or 7 game winning streak would likely take them from fringe-y out of it status to serious wild card contention. The Phillies are one of them.
Right now the big plan should be getting the younger players experience, but boy would I love it if they could somehow stumble their way back into it with those younger players leading the way. As I said, I don’t really think it’s going to happen, but it would be extremely entertaining if it did.

Although only 4.5 out of the wild card, it is highly unlikely the Phils can manage to obtain it. I am all for playing the “kids” and accessing what we have for next season. With that said, that means Lieby needs to be traded/waived/benched for Coste/Ruiz combo behind the plate. Rowand needs to be traded (still can happen in August) and Victorino/Bourn man CF. Bourn is 23 and might just be the leadoff hitter of the not too distant future for the Phils. Mathieson and Hamels are getting good experience now, and possibly Germano should see action in the rotation as well.
