Phillies Foul Balls

If the Phillies had picked up Nunez off the waiver wire or signed him to a minor league contract or something like that I guess I wouldn’t have objected, but signing him to a two year multi-million contract? When you already have Tomas Perez kicking around?

I realize that the Phillies are right on the cusp where a small increase in talent could have massive rewards, but I’m not sure Nunez provides that. He had a career year last year and even that wasn’t very good. Assuming he reverts back to the form he showed with the Pirates he’s a decent fielding, awful hitting utility guy. Those aren’t hard to find. They’d probably be no worse off giving Danny Sandoval a shot, and might wind up better off.
